This 4-credit course is designed for students with little or no knowledge of the Italian language. In most cases, the honors section has the same syllabus and the same program as Italian 101 (for your reference, see description of 101). Students in Honors Italian benefit from a smaller class size and will be able to do many fun activities (corresponding with students in Italy and/or students of Italian; listening to songs; watching movie snippets; creating a video or writing a journal in Italian). This course will introduce you to the Italian language and culture though a variety of interactive activities and assignments. At the end of the semester you will have a basic competency in Italian to communicate in selected situations and about topics covered in class. You will also develop an appreciation of cultural similarities and differences between the US and Italy. Selected non-honors students may get department permission to enroll. Benvenuti! (Welcome!)
The class will be conducted in Italian. Students may not receive credit for both 101 & 181.
