Olivier Guerrier is a leading specialist in French Renaissance literary studies, especially Montaigne (Rencontre et Renaissance : Les Essais ou le jeu du hasard et de la vérité, 2016 ; Quand les poètes feignent : Fantaisie et fiction dans les Essais de Montaigne, 2002). His interest in theories of knowledge, truth, and early modern moral writing (in particular the reception of Plutarch) is sparked by a continued engagement with the thought of Michel Foucault.
